Support Leilani

To qualify for the Olympics, a female athlete in their respective weight-class, must be ranked up to 14th in the world (only one country per weight-class). In order to increase world ranking, an athlete must travel to different world-level tournaments to fight for points. Depending on their placing at the tournament, he/she is allotted a certain amount of points. This race for points can get very expensive and without help or sponsorship, it is not possible.

Unlike other Olympic sports, Judo is one where the athletes are not/barely funded. Because of this, athletes like Leilani Akiyama have a hard time paying for the high expenses of the sport. These athletes, including Leilani, have had to take on part-time work on top of training full-time to pay for the many tournaments and training necessary to make it to the top. You can help sponsor an elite athlete on Team USA. Help Leilani Akiyama reach the 2016 Olympics by donating! 100% of your donation will go to Leilani Akiyama’s Olympic Fund. Also, because she is part of a non-profit club, your donation is tax deductible. Thank you for your time and support!
